Final Thoughts

My brother GC and I both have seen the original Japanese animated (anime) television show Death Note, when we heard that there was going to be a live-action movie based on it we expected the worse, and when we saw the trailer for the live-action movie we assumed that it would not be good but we watched it anyway.

At first my brother GC and I were equally disliking this movie, I kept comparing it to the Death Note anime television show and noticing what they changed and what they messed up, but eventually I gave up comparing the two because this movie is too different in my opinion to be called Death Note so I started to enjoy this movie more when I no longer saw it as Death Note.

In the end my brother GC disliked this movie more than I did, this movie should not have been named Death Note in my opinion, and so I would give this movie a 4 or 5 out of 10.

If you want to see Death Note then I recommend watching the Japanese animated (anime) television show instead because it is much better than this movie.

I agree we you 100%. Anyone who wants to experience Death Note should check out the anime or the equally excellent manga. I definitely would have been kinder in my review had this movie been its own thing and not called Death Note. The changes Netflix made to the characters/story were all inferior to the original.
