The American-Japanese animated television show Neo Yokio.
What Is It About?
This is how Metacritic describes this animated television show:
The anime series created by Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig set in an alternative New York City called Neo Yokio focuses on Kaz Kaan’s (Jaden Smith) life with his robot butler (Jude Law), and his friends Gottlieb (Desus Nice) and Lexy (The Kid Mero), as he deals with his rival Arcangelo Corelli (Jason Schwartzman, and his Aunt Agatha (Susan Sarandon), who constantly reminds him of his duty as a member of the demon-slaying magistocrats.
Final Thoughts
I found out about this animated television show when I watched a video by Double Toasted called NEO YOKIO NETFLIX MOVIE REVIEW – Double Toasted:
They did not like this animated television show at all.
They disliked it so much that my brother GC and I decided to watch it on Netflix to see if it was really that bad, and we both expected to hate it.
At first, I was not liking Jaden Smith’s voice acting as the character Kaz Kaan.
I did not like how the characters mouths were animated lazily.
During the 1st episode I got used to Jaden Smith’s voice acting because to me, it matched his character, and I got used to the lazy mouth animation.
To our surprise, my brother GC and me did not hate this show.
We actually somewhat liked it as a simple, average but unique stupid have fun comedy satire show that you do not take seriously.
The episodes were short, and we finished the show in less than a day.
I think that Jude Law and Susan Sarandon did a pretty good job on their voice acting considering the material.
So far, I have only found one positive review for this show.
It is getting way too much hate in my opinion, which is confusing because this show was better than some other animated television shows out there and those shows do not get this much hate.

seems like a typical Japanese animated….I don’t know if you’ve ever watched Sailor Moon or the Avatar the same type of lazy mouth animation

Hello True George,
I only saw a bit of both years ago, Sailor Moon would probably be considered a low-quality anime, and Avatar: The Last Airbender while popular probably also had a lower animation budget but who knows.
On Saturdays I usually watch about 4 hours of Japanese anime on Toonami, normally the mouth animations do not stand out to me like they did at first with Neo Yokio, and so many of the animes that I have watched probably have better animation.
Another issue is that most are probably either animated for Japanese voice-acting or lazily to make it easier for voice actors dubbing the dialogue into different language to try to sync up their voice work with the animation I assume, but I am not sure.
I usually prefer anime over American cartoons, especially the better and higher quality animes that even put many live-action shows and movies to shame.
