What is it?

The 1998 Japanese anime (animated) television show Outlaw Star.

What is it about?

This is how Funimation describes this anime (animated) television show:

Gene Starwind is a jack-of-all-trades responsible for odd jobs and bounty hunting with his partner, Jim Hawking. Stuck on a rundown planet, he’s going nowhere fast.

But when a bodyguard job goes sideways, he finds himself the proud owner of the Outlaw Star and on an adventure to find the mysterious Galactic Leyline.

Facing pirates and dangers galore, can he survive the journey through space?

Final Thoughts

To me Outlaw Star seems like a warm-up to Cowboy Bebop, which is better than Outlaw Star, and you can see some how both television shows have some things in common.

I wish that a certain character was not killed off early in the show because I think that it would have been better if that character had lived, this show is alright but I did not like it as much as some people, but I do think that the beginning credits theme song is catchy and I did like the ending credits songs and visuals (especially the first ending theme song) which causes me to get a hard to describe feeling where I almost remember something from my childhood but I can never really remember exactly what it reminds me of.

The end,

Hello The Otaku Judge,

I did not realize that it was underrated, maybe somewhat overlooked at times thanks to Cowboy Bebop et cetera.

I like the cast and their interactions with each other and the spaceship battles as well, and I agree about the opening theme.

Thank you for commenting,
