What Is It?
Today’s song is the song To The Moon And Back by the Australian pop duo Savage Garden from their album Savage Garden; this song is one of my favorite songs by this group:
Here is how Wikipedia describes this song:
“To the Moon and Back” is a song by Australian pop duo Savage Garden. It was released in Australia on 4 November 1996[1] as the second single from their self-titled 1997 album.
It was the follow-up to their hit “I Want You”.
It won the 1997 ARIA Music Award for Song of the Year.
The song became a Top 3 hit on the UK Singles Chart, and a Top 25 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100, and was also the band’s first number one in their native country.[2][3]
In an interview with Apple Music about their debut album, singer Darren Hayes explained the origins of the song.
“I was a big science fiction fan – I loved Blade Runner.
I wrote it from that point of view, or the idea of what it means to be human.
That idea of yearning to express your emotions and your feelings and for that to be legitimized.
There was also someone in my life whose persona was very standoffish and who pushed everyone who loved her away.
But I could see underneath that hard shell, there was so much pain and all that stuff that I identified with – mum never loved her much, daddy never kept in touch, these are things actually bothering this person.”[4]
She’s taking her time making up the reasons
To justify all the hurt inside, guess she knows
From the smiles and the look in their eyes
Everyone’s got a theory about the bitter one, they’re sayingMama never loved her much and
Daddy never keeps in touch
That’s why she shies away from human affection, but
Somewhere in a private place
She packs her bags for outer space
And now she’s waiting for the right kind of pilot to comeAnd she’ll say to him (she’s saying)
I would fly you to the moon and back
If you’ll be, if you’ll be my baby
I’ve got a ticket for a world where we belong
So would you be my baby? She can’t remember a time when she felt needed
If love was red then she was color-blind
All her friends, they’ve been tried for treason
And crimes that were never definedShe’s saying, love is like a barren place
And reaching out for human faith is
Is like a journey I just don’t have a map for
So baby gonna take a dive and push the shift to overdrive
Send a signal that she’s hanging all her hopes on the starsWhat a pleasant dream (just saying)
I would fly you to the moon and back
If you’ll be, if you’ll be my baby
I’ve got a ticket for a world where we belong
So would you be my baby?Mama never loved her much and daddy never keeps in touch
That’s why she shies away from human affection
But somewhere in a private place
She packs her bags for outer space
And now she’s waiting for the right kind of pilot to comeAnd she’ll say to him (just saying)
I would fly you to the moon and back
If you’ll be, if you’ll be my baby
I’ve got a ticket for a world where we belong
So would you be my baby?I would fly you to the moon and back
If you’ll be, if you’ll be my baby
I’ve got a ticket for a world where we belong
So would you be my baby?Songwriters: Daniel Jones / Darren Hayes

My Thoughts
I did not realize that this song had at least three official music videos, I wonder if that is some kind of record? 😀
I remember this song back in the late 1990s, and I had the music album.
The end,
