FLCL Alternative

What is it?

The 2018 comedy action anime television show FLCL Alternative.

What is it about?

This is how Fandom describes this anime television show:

These 6 episodes are sequels to the original anime.[1]

The series centers on the misadventures of 17-year-old Kana, a high school junior who spends her days hanging out with her besties, Mossan, Hijiri, and Pets.

They live unremarkable lives, until the day a Mecha falls out of the sky, along with a strange woman named “Haruko.” Haruko’s mission: Awaken Kana’s N.O. channel, and take out Medical Mechanica, or else the Earth will be flattened by their irons once and for all!

Final Thoughts

This was probably more grounded than the previous two seasons, you get a better idea of what some of this series is really about and the main characters get more development and have a stronger bond, but I probably only liked about one episode.

Like the previous season, I do not really see a reason for either of these two seasons to exist, and so they feel mostly pointless and like a missed opportunity to me; except this season does have a message while the previous seasons feel more nonsensical.

I think the trailer you linked to doesn’t look too bad. Then again I have never watched FLCL. Most of the reviews I have read seem to agree with you that the sequel shows don’t live up to the original’s legacy.

Hello The Otaku Judge,

Yeah, the trailer is better than the show itself I think.

Overall there was something special about the original, even though it definitely is flawed, the two seasons after it did do a few things better but they just failed to surpass it overall and did not improve the major flaws of the original in my opinion.
