What is it?

The 2019 supernatural thriller movie Among The Shadows (The Shadow Within).

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this movie:

When her uncle is murdered, Kristy Wolfe (Charlotte Beckett), a Brussels private eye who is a descendant from a line of werewolves, soon realizes that there is a dangerous war brewing within the underworld.

Hired by Patricia Sherman (Lindsay Lohan) to investigate the politically-motivated attack, Wolfe must use her innate instincts to unravel the case and stay alive long enough to unmask the conspiracy.

Final Thoughts

This movie was not as bad as expected and it was even more complex than expected because of a political conspiracy but was it still disappointing in some ways and it had more potential, the visuals were alright, and there were some nice city shots of some cities in Europe.

But the audio was unbalanced and was harder to understand at times, the world was not set up or explained well enough so I felt lost and disconnected most of the time because basic facts were never explained, some of the shots looked too fake like a green screen in the background and there was often smoke and blue lightning that looked out-of-place, Lindsay Lohan and several others had stiff and flat performances, the movie felt like it was made by a first time director or something and it was not edited that well, there were two completely unnecessary sex scenes with a little nudity, the fight choreography and camera work was not that good, and this movie was longer than it should have been.

This movie could possibly use a remake and / or it needs to be reedited and / or someone else could make the next movie if they decide to continue it.

This movie was basically a low-budget wannabe Underworld, and it was not better than any of the Underworld movies; but it was still cool to see someone trying something similar, and it was cool that they tried to make it more complex even if things did not turn out as well as it could have so at least they tried.

I would give this movie a rating of 2.5 – 3.0 out of 5.

The end,
