What is it about?

This is how Amazon describes this TV show:

THE BOYS is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and their formidable Vought backing.

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this web television show:

It’s the powerless against the super powerful as ”The Boys” embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about ”The Seven” and Vought — the multibillion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes.

My Thoughts

I would not have known about this show if it were not for a YouTube video by the YouTube channel Double Toasted called 5 REASONS THE BOYS IS THE BEST SUPERHERO SHOW – Double Toasted:

I did not expect to like this show at all, but to my surprise, it is the best superhero television show that I have watched this year.

It is probably the best superhero anything that I have seen this year, and it is one of the best shows that I have seen this year so far.

This show is not family friendly, it is an edgier and somewhat more realistic twist to the superhero genre, and the special effects were better than expected for what I assumed to be a somewhat lower budget television show.

This show subverts expectations in ways that the last season of Game Of Thrones should have.

Karl Urban did a great job in his role as Billy Butcher.

Antony Starr did a great job with his sometimes more nuanced portrayal of Homelander that had me on alert, not sure what is going to happen sometimes when his character would be in a scene with someone.

A few things that I did not like about the show were: some unnecessary sex and nudity, some characters did not get to do much or say much or be shown much at all, there was less fighting than I had expected or hoped, and there were a few unexplained things that should have been explained in my opinion.

This show surprised me at times with its twists and wild moments, it was an easy watch with only eight episodes, and so my brother GC and I finished this show quickly.

We enjoyed it, and the ending surprised us and left us wondering because there were some unanswered questions.

I definitely recommend watching this show, this is the type of superhero show that I prefer over the current mainstream superhero shows and movies, and I hope that more shows in this genre can become as good as this show.

Watch this show sooner than later, you may be surprised like I was, well done Amazon Prime Video.

After watching this show you may start to agree with the show’s tagline which is:

Never meet your heroes.

The end,

Good to see the Double Toasted guys get linked to your post. I used to follow them back when they ran Shame that site went bust, as they had good animated reviews.

Hello The Otaku Judge,

Yeah, I miss the old Spill Days though, their videos were shorter and funnier and they had better chemistry when they still had the entire crew together; now their videos are way too long, not as funny, they almost never have animated reviews, they possibly have never reviewed an anime, and their chemistry is not as good without more of the crew.

But they are still watchable, you maybe to skip around some videos due to how long they are.

Thank you for commenting,
