Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich (Spicy & Mild)

What is it?

The spicy and mild versions of the 2019 Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich.

What is it about?

This is how Popeye’s describes this chicken sandwich:

A tender all-white meat chicken breast fillet, marinated in an authentic blend of Louisiana seasonings, then hand battered and breaded in our all new buttermilk coating.

Served with crisp barrel cured pickles and Classic or Spicy Mayonnaise, served on a warm and toasted buttery brioche bun.

My Thoughts

I was one of the people to learn of and try the Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich before it was even advertised on their website.

Somehow my city got it a couple of weeks before it was even on the Popeye’s website, and the first one that I tried was the spicy version.

So I got to try this before it became popular, I should have made a post about it earlier, but better late than never.

It was the heaviest and thickest fast food chicken sandwich that I had tried.

The wrapper for it was nice and sturdy and attractive.

The bun was nice, the chicken was moist and thick and had a good flavor, the spicy sauce added some flavor, and the pickles gave it a nice crunch.

It was the best chicken sandwich that I have probably had at any of the local fast food restaurants.

The second time I got the mild version, which had mayonnaise I think, but it was not as good.

The third time I had the spicy version again which was not as good as the first time, but it was still better than the mild.

I definitely recommend the spicy version over the mild version.

Well done Popeye’s, it may not be healthy, but it is good for a fast food chicken sandwich.

It would be nice if they would experiment with adding some lettuce and/or something else to the sandwich besides just pickles.

The end,
