Part 1 – Phantom Blood

In ancient Mexico, people of Aztec had prospered.

They had historic and strange “Stone Mask”.

It was a miraculous mask which brings eternal life and the power of authentic ruler.

But the mask suddenly disappeared.

A long time after that, in late 19th centuries when the thought and life of people were suddenly changing, Jonathan Joestar met with Dio Brando―.

They spend time together through boyhood to youth, and the “Stone Mask” brings curious fate to them―.

Part 2 – Battle Tendency

It’s been 49 years from Jonathan’s death.

Time has been passed and generations have been alternated.

Speedwagon became an oil tycoon established a foundation.

Straizo is now the successor of ripple users taking over from his old master Tonpetty.

At that time, a mysterious mummy was found at ruins in Mexico by archaeological diggers who Speedwagon’s foundation sent.

Beside the mummy, relief of the hateful Stone Mask has been carved…!

The relation between the Joestars and the Stone Mask has not ended yet…!

My Thoughts

This is my favorite season of this anime (animated) show so far, my brother GC and I watched it on Toonami back when it was in the lineup, before then we had never heard of this show.

We thought that Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency were two separate seasons until I started making this post, Toonami does not usually make it clear when seasons end or begin, and so you usually have to look it up to know.

Phantom Blood was our favorite and Battle Tendency was our second favorite.

Jonathan Joestar is my favorite of the Joestars so far, and I like how Joseph Joestar would sometimes predict what people would say/do and would try to outsmart them using strategy.

Unfortunately each season after this has gotten worse and worse in my opinion, and so this season is still my favorite so far.

I also do not like how they handled the character Lisa Lisa, and women in general throughout the seasons so far (they are barely there, and usually one-dimensional and annoying); where is Lisa Lisa and what happened to her?
