What is it?
The 2018 horror television show The Purge (Season 1).
What is it about?
This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this television show:
The first season of “The Purge” follows a group of individuals, each pursuing their own agendas while trying to survive the 12 violence-ridden hours of Purge Night.
US Marine Miguel Guerrero (Gabriel Chavarria) returns home to search for his sister Penelope (Jessica Garza).
Penelope has joined a cult that sacrifices its members to Purgers, led by Good Leader Tavis (Fiona Dourif).
Jane Barbour (Amanda Warren) uses Purge Night to conduct something nefarious against her boss David Ryker (William Baldwin).
Rick Betancourt (Colin Woodell) and his wife Jenna (Hannah Anderson) attend a pro-Purge party despite their anti-Purge beliefs to drum up financial support for their various charities.
My Thoughts
My brother GC and I watched this show last year, I did not realize until now that I had not made a post about it, oops.
I did not expect to like this show, but it was better than I had expected.
This show follows the stories of several different characters, my least favorite was the story that followed the married couple, they were pretty boring and not very relatable; and so the other stories were better, but in one of the stories there was a character who was supposed to be a soldier/marine but I do not think that he did a good job playing a soldier/marine.
This show did just enough to earn its existence and it did just enough to continue watching it, and so I wonder what they will do with season two.
The end,

You forgot to post about something you watched? Hehe. The same happens to me with anime. I watch a series and then forget to review it. That sucks because I prefer to cover a show when it is fresh in my mind. I didn’t know that the Purge movies spawned a TV series. Sounds alright. Hopefully it improves with future seasons.

Hello The Otaku Judge,
Yeah, I am still adjusting to trying to post about things like that instead of only dreams each day, there have been so many missed post opportunities that I pasted up in the past and that I even deleted in the past (I used to have non-dream posts too, but I deleted them all at various times in the past unfortunately). 😀
Yeah, I hate that too, there are various things that I saw years ago that are too vague in my mind but I want to make posts about them; I have a variety of such posts started, but I just have not finished them yet, and there are some anime that I have seen on Toonami that I still have not posted about yet.
I forgot about it because no one talked about it, the show was actually not bad for a low-budget show based on a movie series like that, some of the recent television shows that have surprised me by being better than I expected have been completely ignored by critics/viewers et cetera; which is sad because some of these shows were better than things like the latest seasons of Black Mirror, The Twilight Zone, Game Of Thrones, et cetera but most people have never even heard of them.
I hope that the next season is even better as well, my brother GC and I are currently watching the last episode of the Hulu anthology web television show Into The Dark (Season 1), which is longer and better than the last seasons of Black Mirror and American Horror Story and The Twilight Zone but no one seems to even know that it exists.
My favorite episode so far is probably All That We Destroy which was like a Black Mirror movie or something:
I only learned of this series from a random comment on a streaming video website, each episode is the length of a movie almost, and each is based on a different holiday; it had some flaws but it was better than you would expect for a new show that you have never heard of that somehow managed to outdo the latest seasons of several already established anthology shows.
Thank you for commenting,
-John Jr
