What is it?
The 2019 American psychological horror-thriller movie The Fanatic.
What is it about?
This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this movie:
After Moose (John Travolta) gets cheated out of meeting his hero, Hunter Dunbar (Devon Sawa), he turns to stalking to get the celebrity interaction he feels he deserves.
Harmless at first, Moose’s actions begin to take a dark turn.
Against the advice of his friend Leah (Ana Golja), Moose begins to make frequent visits to his hero’s private home.
As the visits continue to escalate, Dunbar find himself in increasing danger.
My Thoughts
I found out about this movie thanks to Chris Stuckmann’s YouTube video about it that I have below, from his description the movie seemed like one that was so bad that it was good, and so I wanted to see it for myself.
My brother GC and I watched it, and we actually like this movie more than we had expected and more than the critics.
I thought that this movie was going to be filmed poorly, cringey, et cetera but that it was going to be so bad that it was funny; but to our surprise this movie was filmed, directed, edited, and acted better than we had expected.
I wish that the movie would have had some more narration and involvement of the main character’s (Moose’s) friend (Leah), that they would not have skipped some scenes near the end, and that the movie would have given more details of the end results; but other than that it was edited better than I had expected, and more was shown and explained than the movie Hereditary.
John Travolta gave a better performance than I had expected and he really seemed to have become this character, we did not think that this was a bad film, and so I am not sure why it is getting so much hate or being called so bad that it is good.
This movie was a 3.5 out of 5 or a 3 out of 5 in my opinion.
The end,

I hear this movie is doing bad at the box office. Maybe audiences are being scared away by the bad reviews or it isn’t being promoted well? I personally didn’t know the film existed until I saw Red Letter Media covered it in a recent video.
These days the only way to judge a film is to watch it yourself. The opinions of critics and movie goers is starting to diverge. Aside from this film, I hear that Rambo got bad reviews, but some people seem to like it.

Hello The Otaku Judge,
I would not doubt it, most people probably never heard of it, I was one of those people until Chris Stuckmann then Double Toasted made videos about it.
That has been true for some movies I notice, depending on the type and who the critics are, and speaking of Rambo Double Toasted did not like it and probably liked The Fanatic better since it was so bad that it was good to them.
Thank you for commenting,
