What is it?

The 2014 American science fiction action movie Edge Of Tomorrow.

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this movie:

The epic action of “Edge of Tomorrow” unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

Major William Cage (Tom Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission.

Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop-forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.

But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt).

And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

My Thoughts

I wish that I would have gotten to see this movie with my brother CC and my dad and my other brothers at a movie theater at Fort P back when this movie first came out when my brother CC was back briefly from military training before leaving to continue some more military training.

We were going to watch it there with him but my brother CC was spending some time with his girlfriend at the time so we canceled that trip, but my brother GC and I did go see it at another movie theater.

This movie was probably better than I had expected, it is a shame that more people did not see it, I think that more people would have enjoyed it; it was probably the most underrated film that I saw that year.

This movie made us laugh several times, it had some pretty good action scenes, it had an interesting concept, I liked Emily Blunt’s performance and Tom Cruise’s performance, and more.

The end,

I keep meaning to watch this movie, but never get round to it. Sounds a bit like Source Code and Groundhog Day, which I both enjoyed. Weird how the film was overlooked by so many people, at time of release. Usually a big name like Tom Cruise would attract a lot of attention.

Hello The Otaku Judge,

I have not seen either of those two movies, I have heard of them before, but that is probably a good comparison if you add an action movie spin to it.

Yeah, I think that they probably should have named it something else, the naming of it is still confusing even today; it went by several names and even the cover for the DVD at work makes it a bit unclear what the title is because it looks like either a title and a tagline or that they are actually both the title but it is not clear.

Thank you for commenting,
