What is it?
The 2019 American psychological thriller film Joker.
What is it about?
This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this movie:
“Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen.
Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society.
A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him.
Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.
This movie and the movie Cuck (2019) had more in common than I had expected, and this movie made me feel even more impressed by the movie Cuck which my brother GC and I liked a little better than this movie even though there were some things that we did not like about Cuck and Joker was a better made film.
I think that Cuck and Joker combined with some of the negatives taken out would make a better movie.
This was not a bad movie, even though I liked it less than some critics, and it was a unique approach to a supervillain movie.
This movie opens itself for discussion about what was real and what was not, and some other things.
