What is it?
The 2014 American neo-noir thriller movie Nightcrawler.
What is it about?
This is how Metacritic describes this movie:
Lou Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal), a driven young man desperate for work, discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime journalism.
Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling — where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars and cents.
Aided by Nina (Rene Russo), a veteran of the blood-sport that is local TV news, Lou blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story.
My brother GC finally wanted to watch this movie to get it over with, but he ended up liking the movie more than he had expected; and I liked this movie as well.
This movie was the best movie out of the last four movies that we saw within two days (Nightcrawler, The Jungle Book (2016), Code 8, and Doctor Sleep), and it is one of the best movies that I saw this year.
Jake Gyllenhaal has done it again with another good performance and another good film, I am glad that I finally watched this movie, and I am glad that it was good as I had expected.
This movie had some surprisingly good and realistic driving scenes, especially a certain police chase, which was the best driving scenes that we probably have seen this year and in years.
This movie did not waste much time and kept up a pretty consistent pace, surprisingly.
I would definitely recommend watching this movie at least once.
