What is it?

The 2019 Canadian science fiction thriller movie Code 8.

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this movie:

Code 8 is set in a world where 4% of the population is born with varying supernatural abilities, but instead of being billionaires or superheroes, they face discrimination and live in poverty, often resorting to crime.

Connor Reed (Robbie Amell), a power-enabled young man, is struggling to pay for his ailing mother’s (Kari Matchett) health treatment.

Fighting to earn enough money as a day laborer, Connor is lured into a lucrative criminal world by Garrett (Stephen Amell) who works for Lincoln City’s reigning drug lord, Marcus Sutcliffe (Greg Bryk).

Garrett helps Connor sharpen his powers in order to execute a series of crimes on behalf of Sutcliffe, while a militarized police unit, led by Agent Park (Sung Kang) and Agent Davis (Aaron Abrams), hunts them down.

My Thoughts

This movie was a low-budget science fiction movie that was made thanks to some fundraising, and they did a pretty good job with this movie.

My brother GC and I watched this movie along with three other movies at the very end of last year, and this movie was my second or third favorite movie out of those four movies.

I do not like how they tried to add a few things at the end of the movie that were not explained and that they did not have time to develop, but they did a good job with the very low budget that they had.

The visuals were surprisingly good, the acting was better than expected, and it did not waste your time; and it was cool to see some superpowers, robots, and some class struggle all in one movie.

The end,
