What is it?
The 2016 South Korean action-horror movie Train To Busan (Busanhaeng).
What is it about?
This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this movie:
TRAIN TO BUSAN is a harrowing zombie horror-thriller that follows a group of terrified passengers fighting their way through a countrywide viral outbreak while trapped on a suspicion-filled, blood-drenched bullet train ride to Busan, a southern resort city that has managed to hold off the zombie hordes… or so everyone hopes.
My Thoughts
I found out about this movie during the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine, some commenters said that it was the best zombie movie that they had seen, which surprised me because I had never heard of this movie before.
A sequel of this movie called Peninsula (Train To Busan Presents: Peninsula) will be coming out soon, and so I decided to watch this movie on Netflix before it comes out.
To my surprise this was possibly among the best zombie movies that I have ever seen, definitely the best zombie movie that I have seen in several years, it is a shame that this movie came out several years ago without most people knowing about it.
Most people still do not know about it, probably because it is a South Korean movie that is not dubbed in English, but to my surprise reading the English subtitles did not bother me and I adjusted to it almost instantly.
The actors and actresses playing the zombies did a good job with contorting their bodies and acting wild, the acting was better than I had expected, there were emotional moments that brought a few tears to my eyes (I did not cry though), there was tension, the special effects were better than I had expected, there were some nice action scenes, and the ending was not bad.
The end,

I’ve been meaning to watch this since it came out, but for some reason never did! Maybe because I’m weak and can’t usually stomach horror well, but I’ve been reassured many times that this is more of a thriller than a horror. Hoping to watch it sometime.

Hello Moya,
It is more of a thriller, drama, action movie than horror (some horror) to me; and so maybe you can handle it. 😉
