What Is It?
The 2021 found footage horror anthology movie V/H/S/94.
This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this movie:
A Shudder Original Film, V/H/S/94 is the fourth installment in the hit horror anthology franchise and marks the return of the infamous found footage anthology with segments from franchise alumni Simon Barrett (Séance) and Timo Tjahjanto (May the Devil Take You Too) in addition to acclaimed directors Jennifer Reeder (Knives & Skin), Ryan Prows (Lowlife) and Chloe Okuno (Slut). In V/H/S/94, after the discovery of a mysterious VHS tape, a brutish police swat team launch a high intensity raid on a remote warehouse, only to discover a sinister cult compound whose collection of pre-recorded material uncovers a nightmarish conspiracy.
My Thoughts
I was hoping that they would make another V/H/S movie, I was not expecting it to happen, especially after it took a year or more for me to find a cut segment called Gorgeous Vortex from the V/H/S: Viral movie (which was / is super hard to find).
I found out about this movie thanks to the YouTube channel Spookyastronauts reviewing it in the second video above.
The third V/H/S movie was the least favorite of the first three films to my brother GC & I & most people online that I have seen talk about it, and so I hoped that this movie would be better than the third movie.
The V/H/S franchise is probably the best found footage franchise that I have seen so far, the first two movies are among the best found footage movies that I have ever seen, and the first two movies are among the best horror movies that I have seen.
Unfortunately, this movie, V/H/S/94, is the worst in the franchise so far, it looks like it has the lowest budget, the different segments were not connected well or at all, each segment was poorly paced (too slow), and so my brother GC & I were disappointed with this movie.
There were a few things that we liked, but this felt more like a fan made movie than an official V/H/S movie.
I would rate this movie a 2.5 – 3 out of 5, I worry about the V/H/S franchise after this movie, they need to release something better because I do not want the franchise to end this poorly.
I would not recommend watching this movie, maybe watch a few of the best scenes, I do recommend watching at least the first two V/H/S movies if you can handle it:
