Channel Zero: The Dream Door

Source: IMDb

What is it?

The 2018 American horror anthology television show Channel Zero: The Dream Door.

What is it about?

This is how Syfy describes this anthology television show:

Based on the “creepypasta” short story Hidden Door by Charlotte Bywater, Channel Zero: The Dream Door follows newlyweds Jillian (Sten) and Tom (Scott), who have each brought secrets into their marriage.

When they discover a strange door in their basement, those secrets start to threaten their relationship — and their lives.

My Thoughts

This is my second favorite season of Channel Zero, it was not as good as the previous season, but it could have been if this season was really about dreams.

The title for this season is misleading, it should have been called something else because it is not about dreams, and not being about dreams hurt this season.

This season had more sex than all the other seasons combined in just the first episode, which was surprising, and unnecessary.

This season was more diverse and like the previous season it had better more realistic acting and reaction at times, but the main character and her husband did act and talk and react more like characters from the first two seasons at times unfortunately.

The main character was a weak point for this season, she was more like a season 1 and season 2 main character, and so some of my favorite characters this season were some of the background characters who I wish had more screen time.

This season had more potential and it probably should have been based on a better story that actually involved dreams with a better main character, and then this season would have been the best so far.

Channel Zero: Butcher’s Block

Source: IMDb

What is it?

The 2018 American horror anthology television show Channel Zero: Butcher’s Block.

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this anthology television show:

The story of a young woman named Alice who moves to a new city and learns about a series of disappearances that may be connected to a baffling rumor about mysterious staircases in the city’s worst neighborhoods.

With help from her sister, they discover that something is preying on the city’s residents.

My Thoughts

This season was better than the previous two seasons to my surprise: it had better more realistic and human acting and reactions, it had less unanswered questions, it had better main characters, it had more diversity, it had more closure, better cinematography, and better pacing.

Somehow Channel Zero has managed to get better and better each season so far, which is rare, and so I hope this pattern continues because I am liking it better than The Twilight Zone (2019) which ended poorly like Game Of Thrones (Season 8).

Channel Zero: The No-End House

Source: IMDb

What is it?

The 2017 horror anthology television series Channel Zero: The No-End House.

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this anthology television show:

The story of a young woman whose life is forever changed after she visits a bizarre house of horrors that consists of a series of increasingly disturbing rooms.

My Thoughts

I liked this season better than the previous season, I liked the potential that this story had and how it made more sense than the previous season, I liked some of the early creepy moments that it had, but this season was longer than it should have been and it suffers from some of the same problems as the previous season.

One of those problems is a low-energy boring main character who does not act very realistically / human a lot of the time, and the story had more potential but they went in a different somewhat less interesting direction instead of keeping things more contained; and the ending was weak.

Also not as much was explained as I would have liked, this season was a small improvement over the previous season, and I hope that the next season will be even better than this season.

The end,

Channel Zero: Candle Cove

Source: IMDb

What is it?

The 2016 horror anthology television series Channel Zero: Candle Cove.

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this anthology television series:

Season 1 of this horror anthology series revolves around one man’s obsessive recollections of a mysterious children’s TV show from the 1980s.

Returning to his hometown after 30 years, Mike Painter (Paul Schneider) tries to determine if his brother’s disappearance is somehow connected to a series of similar incidents that happened in the past—and to the bizarre children’s television show that seems to be on the air again.

My Thoughts

This television show was not as good as I thought that it would be, it was not bad, but it did not live up to its full potential.

There were too many unanswered questions, too many important things got skipped over, so many police procedures and common sense rules were broken, they tried to make the story more complex than they could handle, the way that most people reacted to things was too unrealistic and unbelievable and numb, and there were a variety of other issues.

I hope that the next season is better, either way, this was still better than some television shows that I have seen.
