What is it?

The 2017 American crime-drama movie Good Time.

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this movie:

After a botched bank robbery lands his younger brother in prison, Constantine Nikas (Robert Pattinson) embarks on a twisted odyssey through New York City’s underworld in an increasingly desperate-and dangerous-attempt to get his brother out of jail.

Over the course of one adrenalized night, Constantine finds himself on a mad descent into violence and mayhem as he races against the clock to save his brother and himself, knowing their lives hang in the balance.

My Thoughts

I found out about this movie thanks to Double Toasted, they really liked this movie, and it made me want to see it too; and I am glad that I did watch it.

I did not like this movie as much as Double Toasted did but I did like this movie and I think that more people should watch this movie because I would not have known about it if it were not for Double Toasted and Chris Stuckmann so I imagine that most people have not heard of it which is a shame because I think that it is one of the better movies that I have seen this year.

The movie started with a documentary-like feel and the movie itself feels more realistic than the average movie, the actors and actresses did a good job and they added some realism to their roles, and it was more suspenseful than the average movie as you watch the main character trying to get out of various difficult situations.

This movie is also interesting because the main character (Constantine “Connie” Nikas) is a very flawed person who does bad things so you are basically following someone who would be considered a villain in most movies, but he really cares about his brother who has a mental disability and is trying to do whatever it takes to help his brother so there is a strong family bond there that you feel positive about even though you probably should not be supporting this character.

There are at least two things in this movie that I think should have been removed from the movie, but I guess you could say that those things added to the realism even though they might make you uncomfortable.

This movie surprised me because it was pretty good and it was better than most of the higher budget movies that I have seen this year, yet most people will probably never see it or other better lower budget movies, and so it was nice to watch a pretty good movie that I would have missed otherwise.
