What is it?

The 2019 Netflix Dave Chappelle stand-up comedy special Dave Chappelle: Sticks & Stones.

What is it about?

This is how Netflix describes this comedy special:

Dave Chappelle takes on gun culture, the opioid crisis and the tidal wave of celebrity scandals in a defiant stand-up special filmed in Atlanta.

My Thoughts

This stand-up comedy special was getting a lot of press for being allegedly offensive, and so my brother GC and I decided to watch it to see what all the fuss was about.

This was not Dave Chappelle’s best work, and the things that most people were complaining about were not as offensive as they said in my opinion; but some of the things that they did not talk about is what my brother GC and I found more offensive.

The most offensive and unfunny and outdated thing to us was his use of a Chinese joke that even his own wife told him not to use where he suddenly did an offensive outdated part at the end of a joke in an offensive voice along with offensive body language and offensive facial expressions, and it was not funny; and it was more like an old racist Chinese joke/caricature from the World War II days or something.

Besides that and two other offensive topics/things (involving children/rape/pedophilia et cetera), the special was not as offensive as some people are making it out to be, and it was better than how some critics rated it.

But I did expect better and a few things were offensive and not funny, but at least it was not as bad or as offensive as described by most critics; and I still got some laughs.

The end,
