What is it?

The 2016 fantasy movie Gods Of Egypt.

What is it about?

This is how Metacritic describes this movie:

The survival of mankind hangs in the balance as an unexpected mortal hero Bek (Brenton Thwaites) undertakes a thrilling journey to save the world and rescue his true love.

In order to succeed, he must enlist the help of the powerful god Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) in an unlikely alliance against Set (Gerard Butler), the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt’s throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict.

As their breathtaking battle against Set and his henchmen takes them into the afterlife and across the heavens, both god and mortal must pass tests of courage and sacrifice if they hope to prevail in the epic final confrontation.

Final Thoughts

This movie was one of those throwaway summer action-like movies that is not meant to be taken seriously, the world and characters were not properly set up or explained, it felt like a Europeanized more Greek-like version of fantasy ancient Egypt and the ancient Egyptian religions which hurts the movie in my opinion, it felt pretty empty but some of the actors and actresses did try at least and I think that Élodie Yung was a pretty good fit for her character, it is pretty forgettable, but it did look pretty good except for the transformations and battles between transformed characters.

I would give this movie maybe a 4 out of 10, and it is not as bad as most people say it is in my opinion but it is not good.
