Inception

I just sent my first Staff Pick for my shelver job at The BP Library, I hope to do some more Staff Picks in the future and I hope to start sharing more things like this in the future here on my blog, normally I would like to do a longer write-up but you have to keep these shorter which is probably a good thing because it will save me time and help me get to the point. 😀

What is it?

The 2010 science fiction action adventure fantasy thriller movie Inception by the director Christopher Nolan, and starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, and Tom Hardy.

What is it about?

The film Inception is about a man named Dom Cobb (played by the actor Leonardo DiCaprio) who forms a team to complete a job that he was hired for, where they have to enter several layers of dreams using a device that allows dream sharing, so that they can plant an idea in their target’s subconscious that will affect the target’s life once the target wakes up in the real world.

This is how Warner Bros. describes this movie:

Nominated for eight Academy Awards, including “Best Picture,” and winner of four, Inception—directed by acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan—features an international cast in an original sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams.

Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious, during the dream state when the mind is at its most vulnerable.

Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved.

Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption.

One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible: inception.

Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one.

If they succed, it could be the perfect crime.

But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move.

An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.

What do I like about it?

I like the movie Inception because I am a fan of dreams / dreaming and even though dreams were not the main focus of the film it was still nice watching a well-made film that involved dreams, it has a great music by Hans Zimmer, the acting, the directing, the cinematography, the story, the concept, the action, the complexity, the costumes, the variety, and more.

Why would someone else like it?

I think that people will like the film Inception because not only is it one of the BBC’s 100 Greatest Films Of The 21st Century, it is an overall good film with a bit of something for everyone, that takes the viewer on an adventure that gives the viewer an example of some of the things that are possible in dreams and how dreams and the real world can interact and affect each other; and so I recommend watching this film, but make sure that you watch this film when you are not tired and when you are ready to think because it can get a bit confusing at times.

Final Thoughts

Inception is currently one of my favorite movies of all-time and possibly my favorite movie since 2010, and I saw this movie twice in theaters and several times at home.

The first time that I watched this movie I was amazed during it by the music and visuals and story et cetera, it was a true movie experience, and when I watched it the second time I was amazed that I still liked it and possibly liked it equally or more than the first time which is rare.

The opening scenes are great, especially the scene when Mal Cobb is first shown, that scene reminded me of Casablanca or some older movie like that with the costumes and music and the mood and the other visuals and dialogue and acting in that scene.

I think that everyone should watch this movie at least once.

All that I can remember of this dream is that it started during the day at what seemed to be a fictional version of W Park in the city of D, my family seemed to be rich, and we lived in a solid walled area to the left of the public swimming pool, and I was returning home on foot.

I entered our walled yard, and we had several small castle-like structures and towers in the yard that we lived in and used it seemed, I remember feeling good and was about to enjoy our nice private and secure yard when suddenly I heard alarms, and the alarms were from our security system that protected us.

I forgot all of my dreams from last night except for part of the end of my last dream, the dream was longer and there were more parts to this dream, but I forgot them for some reason when I woke up.

Part 1

The dream took place during a nice sunny day with nice clouds at my parents house and I was probably in the living room watching/seeing and/or hearing and/or reading about the actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt and an interview with/about him, but that is all that I can remember of this part of the dream.

Part 2

The next part of the dream took place in the living room and I was reading and/or sending a message probably to the National Public Radio (NPR) website through their contact page or by email and/or I was reading about NPR, and it probably involved problems with NPR and suggestions on how to improve things; but that is all that I can remember of this part of the dream.

Part 3

In the last part of the dream I was once again inside the living room and my brother CC was outside watering and/or feeding the dogs and/or something like that, and then I heard a man in our yard talking very loudly who spoke English with a heavy accent like he was from India (Indian) or Pakistan (Pakistani).

The man was talking loudly trying to get my brother CC’s attention and he was asking him personal questions about his bank, trying to find out what bank or banks he used, and other personal information like a phone scam and/or something like that where they try to get enough information to steal money from your bank accounts and/or to commit identity theft against you and/or to scam you.

I opened the window preparing to tell my brother CC to not answer those questions but then I decided that I would go outside and kindly ask the man to leave and walk him out of the yard and tell him to have a good day, but I woke up before I could do this.

A Dangerous Acting Scene

I remember part of a few dreams from last night but I forgot the first dream or first few dreams, but I know that I had one or more dreams before the two dreams that I can remember.

The first dream that I can somewhat remember, took place during the day in D by my bank, and I was walking through the parking lot or something like that; and my mobile phone rang, and I answered it.
