The series initially focused on San Francisco Police Detective Frank Kohanek (C. Thomas Howell) who discovers his city is home to numerous vampires while investigating alleged mobster, Julian Luna (Mark Frankel).
Julian is not really a mobster as Frank supposes.
Julian is the Prince of the city, ruler of five groups of vampires in the city, collectively called “the Kindred.”
Julian, in his role as Prince, is shown to be the only force that can stop the clans from breaking the uneasy truce that keeps them from fighting with each other.
The vampires survive through the “Masquerade,” disguising themselves as humans, and Julian strictly enforces the laws that govern them to protect their anonymity.
Any vampires who break those rules find their lives ended.
Vampires are shown to slip into human society rather easily, holding a variety of jobs.
The senior vampires who compose the conclave of San Francisco are depicted as wealthy heads of industry and business leaders.
Julian and Frank form an uneasy bond due to Frank having been romantically involved with Julian’s former lover, who was also a vampire, and who made Julian promise to protect him as a last favor to her before her death.
Because of his past physical intimacy with a vampire, Frank is shown to be somewhat resistant to a vampire’s powers.
Frank and Julian work together to try to prevent a vampire war.
Additionally, Frank uses his connection to his advantage when investigating crimes.
Julian struggles with his romantic feelings for human reporter Caitlin Byrne (Kelly Rutherford).
Further, Julian is assisted by and finds comfort in his trusted friend, Daedelus, who is the senior vampire for one of the five clans.
This dream was inspired by me watching two episodes of the television show Kindred: The Embraced before I went to sleep, and this dream took place inside a multi-story hospital.
Frank was there to check on a vampire who was in the hospital, I happened to be walking in the same direction, and we went to a hospital room where Lillie was unconscious on a hospital bed.
Frank was there to see how Lillie was doing, he stood there by her bed, and some of my coworkers like Mrs. RB seemed to be working there as nurses while possibly also working at their normal jobs at The BP Library.
Mrs. RB entered the room as a nurse to check on Lillie, but that is all that I can remember of this dream.
Dream 2
All that I can remember of this dream is that I was at work at The BP Library, I walked to the side of the front desk next to my coworker Mrs. RB as her and my female coworker JB talked, and JB was looking straight ahead as she talked so she did not see me standing to the right of Mrs. RB but Mrs. RB knew that I was standing there.
JB looked like she was in a bad mood, at some point JB got up to walk away, and then she noticed me for the first time as we walked past each other.
I said good morning to JB, and she replied: “I’m not hungry.”.
I was a bit confused by this and I felt bad that JB seemed to feel bad, and so I said something in response that I can not remember hoping to help JB feel better.
I remember JB saying a few things before continuing to walk away, I still felt various feelings including concern for JB and hoping that she would feel better, but I woke up.
All that I can remember of this dream is that I was with a fictional male President Of The United States like I worked for him as a member of his staff, but I can not remember what my job was exactly; and we were inside a building during the evening or night, maybe The White House, and there were some other people there too.
A leader from another country had recently invited the US President over to his house or somewhere but the US President was busy with something else so he had to decline the invitation, during the dream that same leader of another country invited the US President again, and so the US President did not want to decline the invitation again to avoid offending the leader of the other country.
But there was a problem where it was just revealed that the leader of the other country was involved in something that we were seriously against so the US President did not want to accept the invitation but he was going to go anyway to avoid hurting relations between The United States and this other country, and I offered a compromise where I or another member of this staff would go in his place but I woke up as we talked about the situation.
I had several dreams last night but I woke up and went back to sleep accidentally and later when I woke up I never did voice record any of my dreams, and so now I can only remember some dream fragments and I am not sure how many dreams there are or which dream fragments go together; and so I will type every dream fragment separated.
Dream Fragment 1
All that I can remember of this dream fragment is that it was inspired by the first episode of the television show Kindred: The Embraced, which I watched before going to sleep, and it involved tensions between vampires and vampire clans; but that is all that I can remember of this dream fragment.
Dream Fragment 2
All that I can remember of this dream fragment is that it took place during a gray day in the city of D at a fictional multi-purpose building that was past SB Church but before you get to B’s Park on the left side of the street, and this building was used mostly for entertainment/recreation and food and drink it seemed.
The building probably had areas for different age groups and some areas for everyone, and some of the areas included: a restaurant, a bar, a gaming area (pool, table tennis, et cetera), maybe an arcade, a play area for kids, a dance floor, hangout/lounge areas, et cetera.
I went to this building and there were other people of many ages there eating, drinking, talking, listening to music, dancing, playing games, et cetera but that is all that I can remember of this dream fragment.
Dream Fragment 3
All that I can remember of this dream fragment is that it possibly took place not far from the building in the second dream fragment closer to SB Church, I remember going to a fictional multi-story library like I was looking for something, and I remember looking around the library and at some point during the dream fragment a female librarian asked me if I needed help finding something; but that is all that I can remember of this dream fragment.
Dream Fragment 4
All that I can remember of this dream fragment is seeing and hearing part of a Fox News Channel-like broadcast with a well-dressed female commentator/host with whitish colored skin with professionally styled long yellowish colored hair wearing a lot of makeup with bright lighting to cover up any flaws and to make her glow who looked a bit like Gretchen Carlson, and she was talking about tensions between Russia and The United States (US).
I remember hearing that Russia was said to have better air defenses than The US, and maybe the next part of the dream fragment took place at a college in Russia but I am not sure; and so I will type it as another dream fragment.
Dream Fragment 5
All that I can remember of this dream fragment is being at a college during the day with my mom and my brother GC, this college was in another city and/or country, and we were inside a multi-story college building looking around for something it seemed; and I remember us walking through halls going inside various rooms like: classrooms, study rooms, lounge rooms, maybe dorm rooms, and more.
There were some students at the college doing various things while we walked around searching, I remember us finding a classroom that had a printer in it and we were going to try to use it, but I think that it was not working properly or it was out of paper and/or ink.
During the dream we possibly heard about and/or talked about the situation between Russia and The US but I could be wrong, and at some point we went to leave the college; and the next dream fragment is possibly part of this dream fragment, but I am not sure so I will type it separately.
Dream Fragment 6
All that I can remember of this dream fragment is that it took place during the day and it was probably a continuation or part of the previous dream fragment, my mom and my brother GC and I walked from the college into a shopping mall that was either connected to or near the college, and I remember us walking around as many other people walked around shopping.
I remember having a problem with my mobile phone where it seemed that the operating system on my mobile phone got changed to either a very outdated operating system or the look of the operating system got changed to a very outdated-looking and hard to read look, and I could not really read the text on my font because of how messed up the fonts and colors were; and I did not know how to use this messed up looking interface for my mobile phone.
I remember walking around trying to fix this and my brother GC started to walk ahead of my mom and I to leave the shopping mall, I felt like getting something to eat at a buffet restaurant inside the mall like at a Ryan’s Buffet Restaurant, and my mom wanted to get something to eat as well so we were going to pick a buffet to eat at; but we did not see my brother GC because he had walked off, and so we went to find him to see if he wanted to eat as well but I woke up.
