Iron Fist (Season 2)

Finn Jones and Jessica Henwick in Iron Fist (2017)
Source: IMDb

What is it?

The 2018 American superhero web television show Iron Fist (Season 2).

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this web television show:

Danny Rand (Finn Jones), the Immortal Iron Fist, has left behind the day-to-day oversight of Rand Enterprises, throwing himself into his mission to defend New York City.

But when an old friend returns with twisted intentions, it threatens the fragile peace Danny maintains within his community, and within himself.

My Thoughts

I can not believe that this show got a second season after the bad reviews that the first season got, I did not hate the first season like most people, but I did hate this season.

I am disappointed that they did not get a different actor to play the role of Danny Rand because Finn Jones is not a good fit for this character in my opinion, and he is pretty bad at this role.

Some of the main actors and actresses acted like they did not want to be there in my opinion, especially Jessica Henwick who literally moved around lazily throughout a lot of this season, and to me her and Finn Jones did not have much if any chemistry when it came to their romantic relationship.

Sacha Dhawan was actually trying and would have been a better main character than Finn Jones, but unfortunately the writing in this show made his character Davos do some stupid things and messed his character up; but I enjoyed some of his parts before the writing ruined him.

Alice Eve stole the show for me, thank goodness for her and her character(s) “Typhoid Mary” Walker, she was my favorite part of this season and helped me survive it; but the writing started to mess up her character as well, but not as bad as Davos fortunately.

I would rather watch a show about her and Davos with better writing, this season even ended ridiculously in a way that basically was a beep you to the audience, but during that moment the main actor and main actress at least seemed to be having fun finally.

I am glad that this show got cancelled.

What is it?

The 2019 American superhero movie Avengers: Endgame.

What is it about?

This is how The IMDb describes this movie:

After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins.

With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers assemble once more in order to reverse Thanos’ actions and restore balance to the universe.

My Thoughts

I did not realize how long this movie was until my brother GC and I finished it, and then I was surprised.

I was surprised by something that happened early in this movie, I was not expecting that to happen so early, and I was not expecting it to happen like that; and so that was a nice surprise, but I do not like how there were no repercussions for that really beyond self-inflicted ones.

This movie was not as good as I had expected, but it was pretty good but some parts were too rushed while some parts could have been shorter.

This movie still makes for a nice blockbuster movie to watch at least once in a movie theater with friends and family, especially when the action starts, and they managed to throw in some comedy along with seriousness better than some of the films.

I still think that I may have liked Avengers: Infinity War better than this movie, but it was not bad.

The Punisher (Season 2)

Source: IMDb

What is it?

The 2019 American web television show The Punisher (Season 2).

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this television show:

Former marine-turned-vigilante Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) has been living a quiet life on the road until he suddenly becomes embroiled in the attempted murder of a young girl (Giorgia Whigham).

As he is drawn into the mystery surrounding her and those in pursuit of the information she holds, Castle attracts a new target on his back as new and old enemies force him to confront whether he should accept his destiny and embrace a life as The Punisher.

Final Thoughts

This show was cancelled by Netflix after this season, this season was better than the last season of Iron Fist, but it was longer than it should have been and sometimes the pacing was slower than it should have been.

Other than that it was an alright season with some brutal fights and shootouts with a bit more realism than some shows sometimes, and there were some surprises.

Avengers: Infinity War

Source: IMDb

What is it?

The 2018 superhero movie Avengers: Infinity War.

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this movie:

An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time.

The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

What do I like about it and what might other people like about it?

I like that this movie managed to do a pretty good job balancing bringing all of these different characters together while not being too goofy, that it was better than I had expected, that they added more dimensions to the character Thanos, and that it was probably the best live action superhero movie that I have seen this year so far.

Final Thoughts

This is one of my favorite Marvel live action movies that I have seen recently, I like how the ending was different than I had expected, I am glad that it was not too goofy, and I like how Thanos was a better villain.

Luke Cage (Season 2)

Mike Colter in Luke Cage (2016)
Source: IMDb

What is it?

The 2018 Netflix web television show Luke Cage (Season 2).

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this web television show:

After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin.

But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save.

With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.

What do I like about it and what would other people like about it?

I like some of the villains and some of their motivations, some of the music, how they showed some of the flaws of how some characters tried to deal with some problems in their community, and how they showed some of Luke Cage’s flaws; and I think that other people will like that as well.

Final Thoughts

This season was worse than season 1 in some ways but better than season 1 in other ways, I can not remember the first season well enough to remember which I liked better, but I possibly liked this season a bit more but I am not sure.

I still do not think that this season was as diverse as it could be, it was more diverse than the first season and there were more female villains, but they seem to intentionally be leaving out certain women with light-color skin like they do not exist in the city or something oddly (there are some briefly here and there very rarely, and usually only for a few seconds in the background and they usually do not get to talk; and so to me it seems this has been intentional each season) which I think hurts the show; and I do not like how they are still keeping Jessica Jones away from the show again, but at least a few other characters did get to make some guest appearances.
