A Dune lore documentary on the history of the Sardaukar warriors!

Start playing Dune: Spice Wars today : https://gsght.com/c/iq9d6z

In this animated documentary, we continue our exploration of the Frank Herbert’s Dune Universe and the Dune lore surrounding its most famous units of history.

We previously released a Dune lore primer called Welcome to Arrakis which will help introduce you to the setting: https://youtu.be/EaDxLCKFvlE

In this episode, we look specifically at the origins of the Sardaukar and how they rose to become the most feared soldiers of the known universe.

We begin with the initial colonists who settled the planet of Salusa Secundus and how their descendants eventually were reduced to savage tribes warring for existence across a brutal landscape.

Eventually, the Sardau tribe would rise to claim dominion of the planet and forge a regional Empire.

However, it would not be until the chaos which followed the Butlerian Jihad that they would truly emerge as a great power.

At the Battle Of Corrin they would ultimately grind the Landsraad to a standstill and crown the first Padishah Emperor.

We cover the equipment, training, and organization which made the Sardaukar of the imperial period so formidable.

This includes their Sardaukar religion and Sardaukar chant so unique to the mindset of their forces, which continued to be produced from the prison planet of Salusa Secundus.

Then we cover their extensive service history, which culminates in the Battle Of Arrakis against House Atreides and the Fremen.

What units of history and Dune lore should we cover next?

How Racism And Discrimination Plagued Black Americans Serving In WWII

What Is It?

The NPR Fresh Air history news article / news audio, How Racism And Discrimination Plagued Black Americans Serving In WWII, with Dave Davies and Matthew Delmont:

https://www.npr.org/2022/11/07/1134756262/half-american-matthew-delmont-black-wwii

Here is an excerpt from this history news article / news audio:

Though more than a million Black Americans contributed to the war effort, historian Matthew Delmont says a uniform was no protection from racism at home or abroad.

His new book is Half American.

DAVE DAVIES, HOST:

This is FRESH AIR. I’m Dave Davies, in for Terry Gross.

When you see movies about World War II and photos of Allied campaigns against the Axis powers, the American military personnel depicted are almost entirely white.

But more than a million Black men and women served in World War II, fighting at Normandy, Iwo Jima and the Battle of the Bulge, and serving in support roles that were critical to the Allies’ success.

Our guest, historian Matthew F. Delmont, has a new book about the African American experience in World War II.

And it isn’t limited to their contributions to the war effort.

Delmont describes the discrimination Black Americans faced in the military and in civilian defense industries, and the brutality many Black servicemen suffered when stationed near white communities that resented their presence.

Delmont writes that African Americans didn’t receive many of the benefits Congress bestowed on service members in the GI Bill, but many were energized and enlightened by their experiences in the war and later became active in the civil rights movement.

Matthew Delmont is the Sherman Fairchild distinguished professor of history at Dartmouth College.

He’s the author of four previous books and has written for The New York Times, The Atlantic and other publications.

His new book is “Half American: The Epic Story Of African-Americans Fighting World War II At Home And Abroad.”

Moving Forward – Eren Yeager’s WORDS

Moving Forward – Eren Yeager’s WORDS

What Is It?

The YouTube video Moving Forward – Eren Yeager’s WORDS by the YouTube channel Biraj Senpai.

Here is the description for this video:

Eren’s Words on Freedom and Moving Forward from Attack on Titan Season 4.

Character Synopsis (from MAL):
Eren is Shingeki no Kyojin’s protagonist. His childhood friend, Mikasa, notes on numerous occasions that he acts on impulse without thinking things through, and she often pulls/carries/throws him when he starts fighting with others to protect him from himself. Along with Mikasa, he tends to spend his free time with their mutual friend, Armin.

Spoiler ON Eren’s Character:
When Eren was a child, he saved Mikasa from being sold off when a visit to her home with his father. Three men—killers of her parents—were in her house, and he killed two of them—one by slitting his throat and the other by charging at with a quickly assembled spear. Mikasa herself killed the third man after Eren urged her to fight, whilst the man strangled Eren. After this, he gave Mikasa his scarf and Eren’s father took Mikasa into their family.

Later, when the Colossal Titan broke through Wall Maria, the debris from this attack scattered and hurtled towards his home. He could only watch on as his mother—trapped under the rubble of their house—was eaten by a titan. This event lit the fire of revenge within Eren that he would kill every giant and not live a life cowering in fear.

Sometime after this—before the time skip that jumped a few years ahead, to when he became a soldier—his father injected him with something. It’s unknown what at this time, but it turns out, because of the injection, Eren can utilize the ability to transform into a titan himself (which explains how his limbs were able to regenerate) with side effects of a high fever and massive stamina drain.
