What is it?

The 2019 American psychological horror-thriller movie Us.

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this movie:

Haunted by an unexplainable and unresolved trauma from her past and compounded by a string of eerie coincidences, Adelaide feels her paranoia elevate to high-alert as she grows increasingly certain that something bad is going to befall her family.

After spending a tense beach day with their friends, the Tylers (Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, Cali Sheldon, Noelle Sheldon), Adelaide and her family return to their vacation home.

When darkness falls, the Wilsons discover the silhouette of four figures holding hands as they stand in the driveway.

Us pits an endearing American family against a terrifying and uncanny opponent: doppelgängers of themselves.

My Thoughts

This movie was better than I had expected, and it surprised me with some of its twists; and this movie has various possible interpretations, and it had a unique approach that made me think of some new possibilities.

I possibly liked this movie better than the movie Get Out to my surprise, but I could be wrong.

Jordan Peele has surprised me again.

The end,

What Is It?

Here is the description for the trailer:

After sending shockwaves across contemporary culture and setting a new standard for provocative, socially-conscious horror films with his directorial debut, Get Out, Academy Award®-winning visionary Jordan Peele returns with another original nightmare that he has written, directed and produced.

Set in present day along the iconic Northern California coastline, Us, from Monkeypaw Productions, stars Oscar® winner Lupita Nyong’o as Adelaide Wilson, a woman returning to her beachside childhood home with her husband, Gabe (Black Panther’s Winston Duke), and their two children (Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex) for an idyllic summer getaway.

Writer and director Peele produces for his Monkeypaw Productions alongside Sean McKittrick, Jason Blum, and Monkeypaw’s Ian Cooper. Us will be released by Universal Pictures on Friday, March 22, 2019.

MA – Official Trailer

Source: YouTube

The other day I saw a trailer for an upcoming 2019 psychological horror movie called Ma:

This trailer was not what I had expected, at first I thought that it would be a drama, when it started I started to think that it was a comedy, then it went to being comedy horror, and then it became psychological horror.

I am now curious about this movie, it was interesting and surprising and good to see a twist like this where some young people with mostly light-color skin and an older person (especially a woman) with dark-color skin are interacting in unexpected ways; and to see Octavia Spencer playing a role like this.

This trailer reminds me of the movie Get Out:

10 Cloverfield Lane

What is it?

The American psychological horror thriller movie 10 Cloverfield Lane.

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this movie:

A young woman wakes up after a terrible accident to find that she’s locked in a cellar with a doomsday prepper, who insists that he saved her life and that the world outside is uninhabitable following an apocalyptic catastrophe.

Uncertain what to believe, the woman soon determines that she must escape at any cost.

My Thoughts

This movie was slightly better than I had expected, there was a lot of tension and mystery that kept me watching and trying to figure out what was really going on all the way to the end of this movie, and the acting and directing was pretty good.

The movie supposedly takes place in Louisiana but you do not really get much of a view or feel of it, and so that is one complaint that I do have about this movie.

The end,

-John Jr
