Total Recall (2012 Film)

Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, and Colin Farrell in Total Recall (2012)

What is it?

The 2012 American science fiction action film Total Recall.

What is it about?

This is how Metacritic describes this movie:

“Total Recall” is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick.

Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories.

For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid, even though he’s got a beautiful wife who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs.

But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man.

Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen, the leader of the free world – Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter to find the head of the underground resistance and stop Cohaagen.

The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate. (Columbia Pictures)

My Thoughts

I think that I saw this movie in a movie theater back when it came out in 2012, and maybe my brother GC and/or one or more of my brothers watched it with me.

I have not seen the original Total Recall yet unfortunately, and so I had nothing to compare this movie to.

Critics did not like it, but I did not hate it and I thought that this movie was okay.

Colin Farrell did an okay job, I liked Kate Beckinsale’s performance and her character, and this movie had a lot of action.

Hardcore Henry

Hardcore Henry (2015)
Source: IMDb

What is it?

The 2015 Russian-American science fiction action movie Hardcore Henry.

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this movie:

Strap in.

Hardcore Henry is one of the most unflinchingly original wild-rides to hit the big screen in a long time: You remember nothing.

Mainly because you’ve just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett).

She tells you that your name is Henry.

Five minutes later, you are being shot at, your wife has been kidnapped, and you should probably go get her back.

Who’s got her?

His name’s Akan (Danila Kozlovsky); he’s a powerful warlord with an army of mercenaries, and a plan for world domination.

You’re also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, and everyone wants you dead.

Everyone except for a mysterious British fellow called Jimmy (Sharlto Copley.)

He may be on your side, but you aren’t sure.

If you can survive the insanity, and solve the mystery, you might just discover your purpose and the truth behind your identity.

Good luck, Henry.

You’re likely going to need it…

My Thoughts

I saw this movie the year that it came out, the first-person view and some other aspects made for some good concepts, and there were some good stunts.

I also like how this was filmed like it was all filmed in almost one take, and I liked the use of telekinesis and the main villain Akan and how he talked et cetera; and I wish that he would have been in more of the movie.

Sharlto Copley did a good job playing different versions of his character Jimmy.

This movie was not bad but it was lacking in some areas, with some improvements this could have been a better film, and I hope that they will make another movie that is even better next time.

The end,

My Thoughts

I wish that this anime (animated) short film would have been longer, and I wish that the animation was more consistent because there were several different animation styles used and one of the beginning walking animations was bad; but fortunately some of the animation is good, and it had some good short action scenes.

This could have been its own miniseries, television show, or movie if it were longer with consistent animation; maybe that will happen one day.

This anime short film reminded me of The Animatrix and Robot Carnival combined with a few other things.

IDIOCRACY: Did It Come True? – Wisecrack Edition

Source: YouTube

Yesterday the YouTube channel Wisecrack had a video about the movie Idiocracy called IDIOCRACY: Did It Come True? – Wisecrack Edition:

I remember my former female classmate AM mentioning this movie to me one day years ago when we both worked at L Binding Service (LBS), and so I watched the movie and I liked it better than I had expected; and so I am glad that Wisecrack made a video about it.
