Debunking The Myth Of The Lost Cause: A Lie Embedded In American History – Karen L. Cox

Debunking the myth of the Lost Cause: A lie embedded in American history – Karen L. Cox

What is it?

Here is how TED-Ed describes this video:

Examine the myth of the Lost Cause: a campaign created by pro-Confederates after the Civil War to promote the lie that they seceded for state’s rights.

In the 1860s, 11 southern states withdrew from the United States and formed the Confederacy. They seceded in response to the growing movement for the nationwide abolition of slavery. Yet barely a year after the Civil War ended, southern sources began claiming the conflict was about state’s rights. How did this revisionist history come about? Karen L. Cox examines the cultural myth of the Lost Cause.

An Android Slowly Becomes Sentient

All that I can remember of this dream is that it seemed to be inspired by the TV show Westworld (Season 3) and me watching several episodes of the anime TV show Mob Psycho 100 (Season 2) before I went to sleep.

Westworld Season 3 Trailer | Rotten Tomatoes TV
Toonami MOB PSYCHO 100 Premiere Promo

The dream involved a male android who looked human and who worked at maybe a pizzeria or restaurant or another type of business that also contained those things, and the android seemed to slowly be becoming sentient as the dream went on.

The Rising Of The Shield Hero (Season 1)

Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari (2018)
Source: IMDb

What is it?

The 2019 anime television show The Rising Of The Shield Hero (Season 1).

What is it about?

This is how Crunchyroll describes this anime television show:

Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, finds a book in the library that summons him to another world.

He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero.

Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party.

However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect.

Unable to trust anyone anymore, he employs a slave named Raphtalia and takes on the Waves and the world.

But will he really find a way to overturn this desperate situation?

My Thoughts

This anime (animated) television show was better than I had expected, I thought that it was just going to be a generic anime that I would get tired of, but this show surprised me starting with the first episode.

I like how things progressed at first, which is what you would expect if someone was following video game rules, but like many other similar shows it started to stagnate and slow down.

At that point I started to get frustrated with the show at times and it started to annoy me, not enough to hate it, but it did hurt my overall opinion of the show; but not bad enough to stop me from watching another season if they come out with one.

I just hope that the show will pick back up, and stop the stagnation.

The end,
