Final Thoughts

This was the worst season of Sword Art Online yet, it was a waste of pretty good animation, and only a few moments and fight scenes like the early goblin fight stood out as some of the better scenes of the season.

My brother GC and I could not wait for this season to end, it became pretty empty, and we wish that they would have focused on the real world more instead of the virtual world this time because the virtual world in this season was not as good as the virtual video game worlds of previous seasons.

If you already hate Sword Art Online, you will likely hate this season even more, and even someone like myself who did not hate the previous seasons did not like this season.

In my opinion this season was a disappointment and a waste of resources that could have went toward a better anime.

Sword Art Online: Alternative Gun Gale Online

Source: IMDb

What is it?

The 2018 anime television show Sword Art Online: Alternative Gun Gale Online.

What is it about?

This is how MyAnimeList describes this anime television show:

Clad in desert pink and the size of a mere child, the infamous “Pink Devil” mercilessly hunts down other players in the firearm-centered world of the virtual reality game Gun Gale Online.

But in real life, this feared player killer is not quite who anyone would expect.

A shy university student in Tokyo, Karen Kohiruimaki stands in stark contrast to her in-game avatar—in fact, she happens to stand above everyone else too, much to her dismay.

Towering above all the people around her, Karen’s insecurities over her height reach the point where she turns to the virtual world for an escape.

Starting game after game in hopes of manifesting as a cute, short character, she finally obtains her ideal self in the world of Gun Gale Online.

Overjoyed by her new persona, she pours her time into the game as LLENN, garnering her reputation as the legendary player killer.

However, when one of LLENN’s targets gets the best of her, she ends up meeting Pitohui, a skilled yet eccentric woman.

Quickly becoming friends with Karen, Pitohui insists that LLENN participates in Squad Jam, a battle royale that pits teams against one another, fighting until only one remains.

Thrust into the heated competition, LLENN must fight with all her wit and will if she hopes to shoot her way to the top.

Final Thoughts

This anime television show was over before I knew it, unfortunately it ended on a bad note, it was better than the main Sword Art Online series in some ways but overall I still like the main Sword Art Online series better than this.

This show was simpler and easier to follow than the main series, but not enough information about the video game and the video game world was given; and too much time was spent in tournaments.

I did like some of the action, and I definitely liked the parts where strategy was the main focus.

Confronted with this abnormal situation, Momonga commands his loyal servants to help him investigate and take control of this new world, with the hopes of figuring out what has caused this development and if there may be others in the same predicament.

Final Thoughts

I would not have known about this anime television show if it were not for one or two YouTubers on YouTube who briefly mentioned it in passing in one or more of their videos.

I decided to watch the first episode of season 1 to see if I wanted to watch it or not, to my surprise that episode was not bad so I told my brother GC about it, and we both watched season 1 together.

To our surprise we not only liked it, but we probably liked it better than Sword Art Online.

This show does a good job continuing to move forward with each episode instead of wasting time like some popular anime out there, though it did start slowing down at the end, but it still wasted less time than most anime that I have seen.

There are some goofy moments that I do not like in this show, but fortunately those moments are limited.

I want to watch all the seasons for this show now, and it would be amazing if someone was / were to take this approach and maybe make an anime television show for The Elder Scrolls.

The end,
