It was one of the best films that I have seen this year and to me.
It was more cinematic than most major release films even though it is just a Netflix film, while also seeming realistic enough to make it almost seem like a documentary.
But I did feel that the film was a bit too long and that a few parts of the film should have been properly explained/shown.
I felt that Idris Elba could have done a bit better with his performance, he did good at times, especially during some of the early speeches.
Something just seemed a bit off with his performance and / or character to me at times.
Maybe it is just how his character was written / portrayed, so I could be wrong.
The film started to lose its way near the end in my opinion.
The acting overall was good, especially the child actors / actresses like Abraham Attah, who were the real stars of this film.
The setting / environment / et cetera seemed realistic, like you were really there.
I felt that it probably did a good job trying to more accurately present the subject, which is serious and not pretty and not uplifting, so do not expect a happy film.
Beasts of No Nation | Official Trailer [HD] | Netflix
Dream 1
All that I can remember of this dream is that it took place at a fictional multi-story college that has probably been in one or more of my past dreams.
I think that one of the upper floors had a restricted door that led to a restricted part of the building where the United States Navy had some restricted areas that have been in one or more of my pasts dreams before where I got to see inside the restricted areas.
The first dream that I remembered last night did not have me in the dream, and it started with three men with blond hair running on the deck of a yacht/boat.
A few people were chasing them yelling: “thieves!”, the three men then jumped into the water and swam to another boat that was basically a flat shaped boat that was holding a lot of cargo, and then they climbed aboard.
The three men then jumped into the water again and swam to another storage boat, and they repeated this one or two more times until they could no longer be seen by the people who wanted to catch them.
The whole area seemed to be the port area of a city and there was a small United States Navy ship near the docks, so the three men swam to it and climbed aboard.
The three men managed to somehow get on the ship without being stopped and they walked around pretending to be soldiers (sailors) after they stole some clothes and changed, but they wore military exercise clothes or under clothes instead of the full uniform.
They decided to split up to avoid suspicion, the ship seemed to be for new Navy recruits just out of basic training or something, so there were soldiers walking around listening to officers explaining things to them.
One of the thieves saw a female soldier that he found attractive so he walked into a room to talk to her, in the room were many other soldiers and an officer was explaining something to them, and then told them about a dance or party that would take place somewhere in the city.
The thief managed to start a few conversations with the female soldier as they followed the officer around as he explained things and after the officer left he even managed to set a date with the woman later that night at a dance or party.
He then left to find the other two thieves and they left the ship, stole two automobiles, and went to the city.
These three thieves seemed more like adventure seekers and they seemed to have very positive attitudes, but they seemed to just travel the world by stealing to support themselves.
Anyway, time in the dream jumped to later that night and one of the thieves picked up the female soldier with his stolen automobile and took her to the dance/party, and at the party they were having a good time but the female soldier seemed to start realizing that the thief was not a real soldier.
Before their date was over the other two thieves drove up in another stolen automobile and told the other thief that it was time to go, and so the woman finally realized that he was not a soldier and that he had been lying to her.
She walked off in anger as the thief tried to apologize, he was sadden but he just quickly cheered himself up and told himself that he deserved what he got, and then he got into his stolen automobile to follow the other two thieves; then I woke up.
Battle For The Dorm
I typed this dream before but it got lost when the electricity went out, so I am going to be lazy and rush through this one.
This second dream started with me walking toward a huge dorm at night-time, it seemed to be built into a mountain or next to it or something.
There were a lot of students outside and they had been recently removed from the dorm by a lot of men armed with assault rifles and submachine guns, so they were wondering what they were going to do now.
I told them that they could try to take the dorm back, but before I could tell them my plan, they all started to get inspired and started to cheer loudly and some started to give speeches.
They were preparing themselves for battle mentally but had no plan or weapons or armor, and then they charged toward the dorms like wild warriors.
I tried to tell them to stop, make a plan, and sneak into the building; but it was too late.
I started to hear shooting, screaming, and battle cries; so I ran toward the building hoping to get the last of the students that went into the building to organize instead of running in wildly.
As I ran into the building the last three students that went into the building grabbed the last three assault rifles that were in a storage closet for some strange reason, and then they ran off.
Inside the hallways were in a rectangular shape and there were many rooms on the first floor, and I could not even see the stairway yet.
I heard a few gun shots on the first floor but other than that it was quiet on that floor, but I could still hear some noise on the floor above me.
It appeared that the students had suffered heavy loses, lost inspiration, some ran, some hid, and some were still running around fighting wildly.
There were dead students on the floor and a few gunmen, but mostly students, it was like a massacre or something.
As I noticed this, things started to get quiet on the first floor, so I got a bit scared, and so I picked up two assault rifles or sub-machine guns off of the floor.
My strategy now was to check/clear each room one at a time and look for survivors, and try to get them to join me in an organized effort to clear the building one room at a time; I felt my chances of surviving were very low, and I thought about leaving but I wanted to save at least some of the students that were still alive.
So I started to slowly sneak around clearing one room at a time alone, it was scary and I had to worry about getting attacked from behind/the front/and my sides.
After clearing three rooms I heard some shooting up the hallway in front of me and I saw a former classmate of mine named K running back shooting at something, so I ran to help him leaving myself vulnerable to attack since I had not cleared most of the rooms I past as I ran.
There were three gunmen that K was shooting at and so we quickly defeated them, but we ran out of ammunition after the shootout, so we looked around for more guns on the ground.
After that K told me that he was the last person alive in the group of students that he was in, he said that when they first stormed the dorm the gunmen heard them and flanked them from behind as they ran through the hallways.
He said that the gunmen would hide in a room, wait for you to pass by or come in, and then they would shoot you; he said it was terrible and all the students started to run.
He said that some were hiding on different floors, some were still running, and some were actually still fighting; this dorm was at least 7-10 stories tall and probably had 300-400 rooms, so it was going to take a long time to clear all the rooms.
I told him that we should work together taking turns clearing rooms one at a time while the other covers the hallway and hopefully we would find survivors to join us; we knew the situation was bad and even if we did survive, it was going to take a long time to clear all the rooms.
We had no idea were the gunmen were hiding or how many there were or how many students were still alive or where they were; so the situation was terrible, but we started to clear rooms anyway.
After we had cleared about three rooms, I woke up.
Dream Fragment: Rebuilding
I do not remember most of this dream at all, all I remember is driving in a small city that was almost like D, it appeared that some thing big had happened.
I am not sure if it was a disaster or what, but many people seemed to be missing, and a few of us were trying to move or escape something.
I remember reaching some point and I started to walk and I met some other people who were talking about rebuilding or starting over.
They wanted to split the city into three parts and each of us would be in charge of rebuilding or starting that area over, the man who came up with the idea seemed to really want to be a leader, he was overly happy about the situation.
I do not know what was going on or what had gone on, but I think most of it was already finished or something, so we were not in danger anymore; I woke up before I could find out more.
