Castlevania (Season 1)

Source: IMDb

What is it?

The 2017 adult animated web television show Castlevania (Season 1).

What is it about?

This is how Netflix describes this anime television show:

A vampire hunter fights to save a besieged city from an army of otherworldly beasts controlled by Dracula himself.

Inspired by the classic video games.

Final Thoughts

The Otaku Judge was correct about this season being short, The Otaku Judge’s review of Castlevania (Season 2) and The Otaku Judge’s reply to my comment encouraged me to start watching it shortly after I replied to that comment, and I was able to watch it in less than a day which was very nice; and so thank you The Otaku Judge for the inspiration. 🙂

It was pretty good and the action scenes were impressive, and I definitely plan on watching season 2.

Luke Cage (Season 2)

Mike Colter in Luke Cage (2016)

What is it?

The 2018 Netflix web television show Luke Cage (Season 2).

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describes this web television show:

After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin.

But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save.

With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.

What do I like about it and what would other people like about it?

I like some of the villains and some of their motivations, some of the music, how they showed some of the flaws of how some characters tried to deal with some problems in their community, and how they showed some of Luke Cage’s flaws; and I think that other people will like that as well.

Final Thoughts

This season was worse than season 1 in some ways but better than season 1 in other ways, I can not remember the first season well enough to remember which I liked better, but I possibly liked this season a bit more but I am not sure.

I still do not think that this season was as diverse as it could be, it was more diverse than the first season and there were more female villains, but they seem to intentionally be leaving out certain women with light-color skin like they do not exist in the city or something oddly (there are some briefly here and there very rarely, and usually only for a few seconds in the background and they usually do not get to talk; and so to me it seems this has been intentional each season) which I think hurts the show; and I do not like how they are still keeping Jessica Jones away from the show again, but at least a few other characters did get to make some guest appearances.

The end,

The Punisher (Season 1)

Marvel's The Punisher | Demolition [HD] | Netflix
Source: YouTube

What is it?

The American web television show The Punisher.

What is it about?

This is how Rotten Tomatoes describe this television show:

After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld.

Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.

Final Thoughts

I did not like this show as much as most people did and I did not like it as much as I had expected, and it took my brother GC and me longer to finish watching it than it would have with other shows like Black Mirror (even if they were the same length).

There were some good things about it but, it reminded me of season 1 of Daredevil which / that I also had a problem with in its feeling and pacing at times which felt slow and dragging and empty et cetera sometimes.

I do like how some issues were explored a bit, but I felt that they missed out on some important things when exploring some of those issues.

I also felt that this show should have been shorter.

Out of the current Netflix Marvel series this probably has the best action scenes though, and the action definitely got brutal at the end and some things did improve at the end.

The end,

-John Jr
