This was actually a more interesting, longer, more detailed, and familiar dream than I can remember now.
All that I can remember of this dream now is that it took place during the day in a fictional city.
I remember going to a downtown part of the city with somewhat tall multi-story buildings.
There is a chance that a forgotten part of this dream involved an aircraft and maybe a hotel, or there was a hotel in the multipurpose building that I am about to mention.
In the downtown-like part of the city, I went inside a tall multipurpose multi-story building that had a hospital & several other types of places inside.
I can not remember why I went there or what I did other than go around different floors of this building, especially the hospital areas, and perhaps a hotel area.
During this I discovered various types of threats, some were strange, possibly paranormal and / supernatural, but I can not remember the details.
I just remember that a woman joined me, and together we explored the building and avoided / dealt with various threats along the way.
At some point, we split up briefly to meet on another floor, I took an elevator, while she took another route on foot.
An older father and his young son were walking toward my elevator, I could have let the elevator doors close, I wanted to, but I decided to hold the elevator doors to let them inside.
I was not sure which was more dangerous for them, to leave them on that floor to wait for the next elevator or to join me on the elevator to the next floor, so I let them join me.
I probably warned them about some of the threats that we had discovered so far, but something strange happened with the elevator.
The elevator started going up without me picking a floor, it kept going up and up, we had no idea where the elevator was going, so I would not be able to meet the woman on the anticipated floor.
I probably started pressing buttons trying to stop the elevator, but it kept going up until it probably reached the top of the building.
A glass wall or window opened to the outside of the building, and the elevator went down the building from the outside along a track that went straight down the middle of the side of the building that was mostly made of glass.
Once the elevator reached the ground below, it followed another track that went to the road, and down the middle of some streets.
The elevator kept moving along this track through the streets until it took us somewhere in the city.
I can not remember if I pressed a button for the elevator to take us back or not, I probably did, either way, I woke up before we got back to the building probably.
I remember being worried about the woman and how I would find / contact her because she was left alone in the building with the various threats, not realizing that I would not be there to meet her on another floor.
